1. What is the average facility cost per hour for the RN and CNA?

This largely depends on the state and what part of the country you reside in. For example a registered nurse in Massachusetts working on a medical surgical floor might be making between $22.00 to $25.00 an hour. Therefore, the suggested markup would be $40.00 per hour to bill the facility.

2. Do we need to carry workman's comp insurance for our contractors or is this only required for employees?

This web site www.nso.com , talks to many health care related malpractice insurance issues and offers many tailored insurance options for health care professionals. Home care staffing nurses, certified nursing assistants and certified home health aides need to be bonded.

If you are keeping your staff as independent contractors, they will pay for the bonding and malpractice insurance which will satisfy your agency requirements.

3. We live in Las Vegas Nevada and just do not know how to start. How anyone can start from the bottom?

The operations manual 'Any Nurse Can' will get your nursing agency up and running. You will also receive contract copies for  Independent Contractors, nurses, certified nursing assistants, certified home health aides, facility agreements, nursing skills check lists and our new independent contractors application.

We also provide on-going email support for questions and answers. Please see 'Our Products' for more information.

4. Do you know how I can find out if the business name I have chosen has already been registered?

There are many websites that offer free or inexpensive copyright and trademark searches. After the business is licensed, an attorney can help you copyright your business name and trademark your logo.

5. Staffing only hospitals, nursing homes and clinics, and possibly a home health agency, if all of my nurses are contracted, is it required that I have workers comp insurance or do I have to pay unemployment tax?

In general, if the nurses are 'independent' contractors, you pay no unemployment tax or workmen's comp insurance.  It never hurts to contact your state worker's compensation agency.
